Tired of Bad Dates? Take a look at this Date From Hell Story!
MISREPRESENTING MEN = LYING MEN
I have so many kooky match.com dating stories it is hard to know which one to share. That being said, I have definitely learned that it is important to be choosy.
I joined match after yet another man I was dating lied about being married. My logic was maybe if I could spell out who I am and who I am looking for I could avoid such misery in the future. What an ego boost match was! I was both flattered and overwhelmed by the massive response (I've since learned I don't need to reply to EVERYBODY lol)....until I began to boil it down. I will not waste space with the six months of frustration, harassment and hurt feelings. I will just share a sampling of recent encounters.
1. The "Good Guy": This man was a professional from Laguna beach . He informed me I had "found the right man" my "search was over". After many emails and phone conversations, he invited me to a "dream dinner and lovely evening". I was excited and did the whole girlie hair nails outfit thing . I overlooked that the "6ft 1" description was in reality shorter than my 5ft 9 and fairly stocky. We met at a fun open air mall with many nice looking restaurants. Not bad, I thought . So I guess when he led me to a brew pub I was a bit let down. When he wouldn't wait for a table and sat me at the bar I knew this was just another guy out for a booty call. It didn't help matters that he ordered my drink for me despite my protest (not a big fan of vodka). Our "dream dinner" was nachos. We talked some sports, he chided me for making him "drink alone" and I ended up with three drinks in front of me. Upon leaving the bar he asked me to come back to his place to watch TV......really? That was the "lovely evening"? I declined and he said he would call me the next day and take me out to lunch. I never heard from him again of course which was fine by me.
2. The Misrepresenter : This man said he was 42 in his profile, athletic and self employed . We talked via email for about a week and then by phone. We arranged to meet at a local diner. As I sat waiting, I observed a poor older man struggling with his walker. I thought, "poor guy can barely move." Well imagine my horror when the old guy turned out to be my date! He tripped into the diner looked my way, smiled and called out, "there's my girl!" OMG the only saving grace is I figure onlookers assumed I was his daughter. It turns out his pictures had been taken back in the eighties and he recently had both hips replaced!!! I informed him I could not stay on the date as he totally misrepresented himself. I wished him luck, got up and left. Later, he texted me and told me he was better off not seeing a "superficial bitch" like me. Well he is entitled to his opinion and I let it go. I've just recently met a very nice sincere man through match. Maybe this will be a happy story to share .................stay tuned.

Dr. Gooddate's response:
Kudos for setting boundaries Kelly! Isn't it funny how a man completely misrepresents himself by lying in his bio, sending old photos and ultimately calling YOU a "bitch"! I'd like to say "WHAT NERVE!", but instead, I'll just laugh and say "Good Job!".
Loved the nacho dinner comment you made, and I especially liked that he ordered drinks FOR you. It goes without saying that this dude was also a "cost controller". Since he clearly wasn't the man he represented himself as, he was essentially keeping you from ordering an expensive drink or a costly glass of wine. Regardless, both of these guys were clearly liars and losers. Nip it in the bud is what I always suggest and it sounds like you did just that. So congrats to you! If only everyone took your approach, and set some early boundaries like you did, most women would be better off in the world of internet dating.
Date #1 was undoubtedly a potential booty call for him - just as you stated. Glad you didn't waste any more time on your "lovely evening"! LOL!!!
