FIRST DATE TURNS VIOLENT
I went on a date a few nights ago with a man who posted a picture of him looking like a fashion model. It wasn't at all old looking but I wish I would have asked for a few more. I just was looking for conversation at a local pub and so I agreed to meet him.
He insisted that he pick me up. I agreed after I contacted friends and family about my intentions. When I opened the car door, his vehicle was incredibly smoky. I was appalled. I didn't want to be rude so I did continue our date. Well he then admitted that he had just moved from Kansas a few months prior and wasn't familiar with my area. I had to give him directions to where he chose to get drinks at. It was odd. He looked nothing like his picture as well. He was supposedly 34 but looked 50 or 60. This wasn't even the worst of it. He really drank me under the table when we were on our "date." He drank three tall beers before I was halfway through my first single drink...So I was texting friends asking what I should do. I didn't want to leave him but I wish I would have.
He insisted he drive me home and said he was okay after drinking six talls. I think I am going to get a cab as we were walking out and all of a sudden he grabbed my neck and pushed me into a building we were passing. His violence came out of no where. I was scared and told him to stop as he was choking me. I was able to free myself and ran back into the bar to phone the police. By the time I had returned outside he had driven home. He emailed me nonstop for days and texted me apologizing. The sad thing is he said he couldn't remember anything and was messed up. WELL YEAH. I almost filed a restraining order.

Dr. Gooddate's response:
I wouldn't have filed a restraining order but I would have gone right to the police with his name, contact info and copies of your texts and emails.
Guys like this are dangerous and unfortunately more common than you think in the world of internet dating.
Not only was he a photo fibber, but he sounds like an overimbibing jackass.
Glad you're OK Kim. Next time, do yourself a favor - NEVER let a man you have never met pick you up for a first date. He shouldn't know where you live until you know him much longer and are comforable with him.
Rule of thumb: When you meet for the first time, the man should know nothing but your first name and email address...period...no exceptions. If you speak on the phone, use *67 to conceal your phone number before you call him. Stories like this have ended up much worse than yours so I'm glad you're OK.
